My Website Theme

Sources

WordPress themes can be obtained from several sources. The most common source is the official WordPress theme directory, which contains thousands of free themes that are reviewed for coding standards. Another source is third-party theme marketplaces, which often provide premium themes with more advanced features and professional designs. Developers can also span out and create their own custom themes for complete control over design and functionality. When selecting a theme from any source, it is important to consider responsiveness, compatibility with plugins, and update frequency.

Required Files

style.css
The style.css file contains the main stylesheet for the theme. It controls the visual appearance of the website including colors, fonts, and layout. This file also contains theme data such as the name, author, and version so WordPress can properly recognize the theme.

index.php
The index.php file is the main file used by WordPress. It acts as the backup template when no other template file is available. This file controls how blog posts or pages are displayed on the website.

Decision Matrix Explanation

I used several criteria in my decision matrix to evaluate themes. Responsiveness was important because websites must display properly on mobile devices. Customization options were also important to allow future updates to the site’s design. Performance and speed were considered because faster websites improve user experience and search engine ranking. Plugin compatibility was another important factor to ensure the theme works well with essential WordPress plugins.

2) Twenty Twenty-One : https://theboneyardz.com/wp-admin/themes.php?theme=twentytwentyone

3) Blanky : https://theboneyardz.com/wp-admin/themes.php?theme=blanky

After evaluating the themes, I selected Twenty Twenty-Two because it provided excellent performance, strong customization options, and a modern design. It also supports many plugins and is compatible with mobile formats. These features make it a flexible choice for future updates to the website. It was a very easy install from the WordPress theme directory.
