Reactivated Plugins: Building the Foundation of The Boneyard

After resetting my WordPress database, one of the most important steps was deciding which plugins to reactivate. Since The Boneyard is a content heavy site focused on archaeology and fossil discoveries, I needed plugins that would support performance, security, and user experience.

The first type of plugin I focused on was security. Protecting the website from potential threats is critical, especially when managing multiple users and content updates. Security plugins help monitor login attempts, and keep the site stable. Next, I reactivated performance related plugins. Because my site includes images, galleries, and potentially large media files, optimizing load times is essential. These plugins help compress images, cache pages, and improve overall speed, which directly impacts user experience.

I also included social media and analytics plugins. These allow the site to connect with external platforms and track user behavior. Understanding how visitors interact with the site helps guide future improvements and content decisions. Finally, I reactivated plugins for spam control and podcast integration. Since users can interact with posts and I plan to include a podcast, these tools ensure everything runs smoothly and professionally. Overall, each plugin was selected with a clear purpose, even if I kept to a newer set of plugins for my reset.
